Oceans

Oceans – Hillsong

You call me out upon the waters
The great unknown where feet may fail
And there I find You in the mystery
In oceans deep my faith will stand

And I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise my soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine

Your grace abounds in deepest waters
Your sovereign hand will be my guide
Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me
You’ve never failed and You won’t start now

So I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise my soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine

[6x]
Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Saviour

I will call upon Your name
Keep my eyes above the waves
My soul will rest in Your embrace
I am Yours and You are mine

We sang this song last week at Christian camp. I had never heard it before so I could not appreciate how good of a song it was. Since being back home I have had random lines from the song stuck in my head. So I looked up the words and read over them a number of times. Oh how wonderful the words are. I believe this song was one I needed to know.

It talks about having trust without borders which spoke to me in particularly. I find it hard to trust after being hurt countless times by people who I thought cared. I have learned a very valuable lesson with trust. For many years I have been unable to trust people including my Christian friends. I am slowly learning who is trustworthy and who isn’t. As a Christian I believe it is important to trust your Christian friends because they are able to pray for you and remind you of how God feels about your situation and how you are feeling.

The song talks about being kept above the waves and finding rest in God. Life can be tough and there will be days where the waves are so high you feel as though you are going to drown. I believe that is where you need to cling onto God. You need to hold onto Him and He will not let you down. You are His and He is yours.

His grace finds you in your darkest hour. In the middle of your chaos God’s grace will reach you. He gives us endless grace and forgiveness. Nothing you can do will make Him love you any less. He won’t stop loving you because you messed up. His love is unconditional. Amazing right?

God cares about you so much and wants the best for you. He will guide you through the stormy waters and will not let you drown. You may become weary, you may become fed up but God will be your strength. He will guide your path and carry you when you can no longer walk.
