This week I had the privilege to visit the Christians Against Poverty head office in Bradford. I have been involved with our Christians Against Poverty centre for over two years but I have never really realised the amount of work that goes into each individual until I visited Bradford. I could see how loving, caring and compassionate the workers of head office where. They put so much effort into helping individuals that they have never met.
We watched the above video during the visit. I was touched at how a box of food could make such an impact on a family. The family in the video had nothing. They were looking at a miserable Christmas as they were unable to afford a traditional Christmas dinner and gifts. When they received their Christians Against Poverty Christmas hamper everything changed. Their Christmas was transformed. They were able to enjoy Christmas as a family and not worry about what to eat.
Those who work for Christians Against Poverty are lights for Jesus. They are willing to go the extra mile to see smiles on faces. Jesus himself reached out to the poor and that is what He calls us to do.
‘Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.’ – Proverbs 31:8-9
