93/365: Blood

93/365: Blood — Today marks one of the most important days in the Christian calender. Christians across the world will be remembering the day that Jesus died. His death was cruel and painful. He did not deserve what was thrown at Him. It should have been us on that cross. He was nailed to the cross because of us, because of our actions. But God loved us far too much to see us die. I would imagine that He loved Jesus so much more. His love for us saw Him sacrifice His only son. Jesus suffered and died on that cross because of God’s love for us. Jesus died so that we could live. We needed a Saviour because we would never be able to save ourselves.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3 verse 16)

77/365: Luck

77/365: Luck — There are thousands upon thousands of people across the world who believe in luck. They have lucky numbers, lucky pieces of clothing and even lucky people. I do not believe in luck. I believe in God and the power of prayer. I would never count myself as lucky but I would count myself as blessed by God. I do not believe that walking under a ladder or smashing a mirror gives you years of bad luck. I do not know about you but I just cannot grasp the concept of glass shards having control over my life. I have walked under ladders before and nothing incredibly bad has ever happened to me.

Trust Him

When you feel as though life is breaking you, pour your heart out.

Be vulnerable.

Show your fragility.

Express your emotions and feelings.

Allow yourself to be comforted, to be healed.

Let your mind be set free from captivating thoughts.

Trust Him with those scary situations, those difficult decisions.

Trust Him.

70/365: Poverty

70/365: Poverty — The United Kingdom is within the top ten wealthiest countries in the world. I find that fact hard to grasp sometimes. The area I live in is quite a poor area. There are very few work opportunities and there are a huge number of families in debt. My time spent volunteering for Christians Against Poverty highlights just how desperate people are. I hear of parents unable to feed their children, people contemplating suicide because there seems to be no way out for them. Poverty is real and it affects so many people. My heart aches for those people I meet through the work of Christians Against Poverty. Lives are changing because of this work and it really is a blessing to see the difference in people.

68/365: Lighthouse

68/365: Lighthouse — In Church we have started to sing the really catchy Lighthouse song that dominated every MCYC last year. To be completely honest I find the song really annoying. However the words are actually quite good and are a great reminder of God’s love for us! We sang it yesterday in Church and instead of getting myself annoyed because we were singing it I actually joined in!! To me, God is my lighthouse. He is my light when I find myself in darkness. He is my peace when the storms rage. He does not walk out on me when I mess up, or when I say or do the wrong thing. His love always finds me at the exact moment I need it. His promises will never fail me. His love will never fail me.  And more importantly, He will never fail me.
